We homeschool, so, although we try to be consistent, we don't have to stick to a hard-and-fast schedule - as if we were catching a bus.
I cannot tell you how many times we have tried to set alarms. It's not the same. It doesn't work.
My dear daughter (the 13 year old) tells me that she wants ME to wake her. I brush the hair out of her eyes, and talk softly to her, easing her awake. What alarm clock can follow that act?
Too bad I'm such a softy. In all the ways that my kids don't need me anymore, I confess -- I am glad that they still need me to wake them each morning.

Oh, I agree! I think waking them each morning is a sweet and beautiful way to greet each new day. Beautiful. :)
