Project Pinterest: Cleaning Ceiling Fans

I don't know about you, but around our house, dust tends to build up on those un-used and forgotten ceiling fans through the winter!  Then, in the spring, when the kids are "roasting" (already?) and want to throw open the windows and crank up all of the fans, I scream "WAIT!!!!!" before they can turn on the ceiling fans and blow the dust all over their bedrooms.

It happened the other day.  It was beautiful and in the 60's.  My son came home from school, and proceeded to throw open his bedroom window.  He inquired (bless him!) about turning on the ceiling fan, and my mind went hippity hop to Pinterest and an idea I had seen there.

I'll bet you're wondering what my fan issues have to do with Pinterest, right?

Taadaa!  A brilliant way to dust your ceiling fans without the dust bunnies hopping all over your room. This was one of my original pins way back when, and I've just been waiting to use it.  Today was the day.

Success!
Spring?  Bring it on!

  1. I love this idea! We just had a big debate on the best way to clean the ceiling fan - it hit 80 yesterday, but the building still has the heat on, so we needed the fan ASAP! My way ended up getting dust bunnies all over the bed, so I can't wait to try this way!

  2. If I ever needed a good idea, the time is now! My fans are just disgusting and I rarely turn them off because then I would have to clean them. The whole, "an object in motion stays in motion" rings true to the dust on the fan. If I ever turn them off, I'll certainly try this great idea!

  6. Wow, who would’ve thought a pillowcase can also be used in cleaning? Hm… I actually don’t have a Pinterest account (it’s not that I’m not “interested” in it, my schedule doesn’t just allow me to do so), and I think having one would really give me more help and reasons to browse in it. Thanks, this just made realize something. :)
