December 9th ~ Thinking of My Gram

"City sidewalks, busy sidewalks -- dressed in holiday style.
In the air there's a feeling of Christmas."
~Silver Bells

This was one of my Gram's favorite Christmas songs.  I can just hear her singing it in her deep (probably tenor) voice.  I think of Gram so often at Christmas.  She had such a system to everything she did for Christmas - and life.  There was a place for everything, and everything in it's place.  Decorations (and everything else she owned) were in their original box, if possible.  If not, they were in another box, and labeled well with a big, stinky, black, permanent marker.  SHE was organized.  Comparatively speaking, I sort of fly by the seat of my pants.  I own a big, stinky, black, permanent marker -- but I don't use it much - which may be my problem.

And Christmas shopping?  Well, Gram would be finished by now, certainly.  Her gifts would be wrapped, and stashed for the time being.  I, on the other hand, just got out for my second shopping trip last evening.

Are you still doing some Christmas shopping? -- or are you one of those organized sorts who are already done?  Well, I applaud you if you're done.  If you're not -- hang in there!  We still have more than two weeks.  Just think of the things we can accomplish in that time.  (Nevermind why we haven't accomplished it up until now!)

Would you like a chance to win a beautiful apron from The Hip Hostess, and a copy of Sandy Coughlin's new book The Reluctant Entertainer?  Go HERE to read more, and to leave your comments for the giveaway.  These would make great gifts, but I'm pretty sure they would also be hard to part with once you've seen them!  You can't win if you don't enter.  (Sandy's book is definitely on my wish list!)

Check this out. (Love it!)

You can find "A Mighty Fortress" (posted 12/5 on my blog) on this CD.
This is on my Christmas wish list too!
